Did you know that you are committing an offence if you publicly advertise a reward for the return of property which has been lost or stolen with any of the following assurances:
- no questions will be asked of the person returning the property,
- or the person returning the property will be safe from apprehension or investigation,
- or money paid for the purchase of the property or advanced by way of loan on the property will be repaid.
This is under the 48A Summary Offences Act 1953 and carries a maximum penalty of $500.
